The Dapia

Spetses has two harbours. The 'Old Harbour' and this one, the 'Dapia'. Apparently the name means 'fortified harbour' and this name is (I think) unique to Spetses.

The building in the centre of the picture on the left is the former Chancellory building... nowadays a cafe. Some histories (but not the 'official one') record this building as the first place in Greece to raise the Flag of Revolution against the occupying Turkish forces in 1821

All the commercial ferries and boats arrive here at the Dapia and in the bottom picture you can see The 'Flying Cat' arriving from Piraeus, the local ferry waiting to leave for the mainland and a line of sea taxis waiting to whisk you just about anywhere you want to go.
